Start with your existing environment

Run a pilot before cutover
We scope a target architecture around compute capacity, failure headroom, networking and storage. Shared arrays, local storage and distributed storage are evaluated against actual requirements; Ceph is not mandatory for Proxmox.
A pilot batch validates boot, drivers, network access and business workflows. Backup and recovery are tested on the target platform. Each batch needs an agreed cutover window, acceptance criteria and rollback procedure. Do not assume zero downtime without testing the proposed approach.
