Backup and disaster recovery in Morocco
Restoring a file is not the same as restarting an organisation. DBT helps IT teams connect backup policies to business priorities and build a usable disaster recovery plan.
Agree what must recover, and when
Recovery planning starts with business services: directory, applications, databases, files and network access. The organisation sets an acceptable interruption, or RTO, and acceptable data loss, or RPO, for each service. These objectives guide design; they are not automatic guarantees from a product.
The assessment identifies dependencies, decision owners, recovery resources and incident scenarios. Hardware failure, accidental deletion and a security incident may require different recovery procedures.
Protect copies and test recovery
A backup policy defines scope, frequency, retention and copy locations. Separating access and using immutability where supported reduces the chance of a production compromise reaching every copy. Data owners should help determine retention periods.
Depending on the environment, the work may involve Veeam or another suitable solution. Compatibility and licensing requirements are checked during scoping. A successful backup job does not replace an application restore test and validation by a business user.
Document and exercise the plan
The recovery runbook identifies startup order, required access, contacts, integrity checks and conditions for returning to production. A controlled exercise measures real recovery times and exposes blockers such as storage capacity, bandwidth, unavailable passwords or missing dependencies.
